France’s Slimane Aims for Eurovision Glory!

The Eurovision Song Contest is heating up, with the grand finale happening this Saturday, May 11th, in Sweden. France’s representative, singer Slimane, is making a strong showing in the betting odds!

Remember how Sweden won last year? This year, a new champion will be crowned! Can France, represented by Slimane, take home the trophy? Bookmakers seem to think he has a good shot.

As of Friday afternoon, Slimane is sitting pretty in fourth place according to several betting sites. This is a big jump from before his impressive semi-final performance, making it his best position yet. Apparently, he has a 4% chance of winning!

The former winner of The Voice France will be trying to bring France another Eurovision victory, just like Marie Myriam did in the past. His song, “Mon Amour,” got its Eurovision debut during the semi-final. On Saturday, he’ll be performing right before the very last act!

Croatia Seems Unbeatable (For Now)

Currently, the bookmakers’ favorite to win is Croatia. Their singer, Baby Lasagna, will be rocking the stage with his song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim.” This hard rock track with a touch of techno could bring Croatia their first-ever Eurovision win! Interestingly, Baby Lasagna (whose real name is Marko Purišić) almost gave up on music before being chosen for Eurovision. Talk about a lucky break!

Israel also seems to be a strong contender. Singer Eden Golan and her song “Hurricane” jumped way up in the rankings after the semi-final, pushing Switzerland’s “The Code” out of the top spot. Rounding out the top five are Ireland and Ukraine, with France following close behind in fourth.

But remember, these predictions are just guesses! Last year, a singer named La Zarra was ranked high by bookmakers, but ended up finishing much lower. Anything can happen in the exciting world of Eurovision!
