London England – Adrian Newey, the most coveted engineer on the Formula One grid, wants to leave the Red Bull team, double reigning world champions, several media reported on Thursday.
A Red Bull spokesperson said Adrian Newey was contractually linked to the team led by Christian Horner until at least the end of 2025. “We are not aware of him joining another team,” he said. -he adds.
According to the BBC, Adrian Newey is however convinced of being able to negotiate his transfer to another team next season.
It was not immediately possible to contact the 65-year-old British engineer.
The BBC and German publication Auto Motor und Sport both reported that Adrian Newey had informed Red Bull of his intention to leave the team following accusations of inappropriate conduct by an employee against Christian Horner.
The stable boss was cleared of these suspicions in February but the employee appealed.
During his career, which spans several decades, Adrian Newey has designed world champion single-seaters for Williams, McLaren and Red Bull, which outrageously dominates Formula One currently with Dutch driver Max Verstappen.
Ferrari, which seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will join next season, and Aston Martin are cited as possible destinations.
Mercedes does not hide its desire to recruit Max Verstappen next season to replace Lewis Hamilton.
Red Bull, for its part, will end its partnership with Honda at the end of next season in order to develop its own engine with the support of Ford.
