Grubb is anticipated to join the Seahawks:
It is anticipated that Grubb will take over as the Seahawks’ new offensive coordinator, per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
Scott Huff Could Be Added Here:
According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Grubb is probably going to the Seahawks with Scott Huff, the offensive line coach at Alabama.
Other Applicants and Interviews Rejected:
The only other significant applicants for the position were Kelly and Engstrand, Deitrick Lines’ offensive assistant trainer. The New York Giants’ offensive coordinator, Mike Kafka, was also keen to interview Grubb, but the Genats turned down the request, so Engstrand updated his resume to include the title of associate head coach.
Departure of Kelly from UCLA:
Kelly joined Ohio State as their offensive coordinator on Friday, leaving UCLA.
DeBoer’s Move to Alabama Expectations:
Grubb was supposed to bring DeBoer to Alabama after the two teams played together at Washington State for the previous two seasons.
National Signing Day Introduction:

The Selection of DeBoer as Head Coach:
Following the departure of Nick Saban on January 12th, DeBoer was appointed head coach of Alabama. Grubb and DeBoer have previously worked together as Sioux Falls’ coaching staff members in 2007.

Grubb and DeBoer won’t collaborate for the first time since 2019. Together, they led the Huskies to a 25-3 record during the previous two seasons, which included a Pac-12 championship and a trip to the College Football Playoffs in 2023.
Giving NFL Play-Calling Experience Priority:
McDonald stated that hiring an offensive coordinator with past NFL play-calling experience was “top of the list” of priorities during his inaugural press conference on February 1.
Current NFL Coaches:
Grubb has no prior experience as an NFL coach. He becomes the latest addition to the Seahawks coaching staff, which also includes special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh, defensive coordinator Ed Donatell, and associate head coach Leslie Frazier.
